Get a free kanji poster for JLPT study

When we were studying Japanese many moons ago, we found kanji posters to be an essential reference tool. So we compiled kanji lists as posters for each of the 5 levels of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

For each JLPT level you can download a free kanji poster as a PDF file optimised for the screen or as a PDF file optimised for print as large wall posters.

Download the PDF:
JLPT N5 kanji list | JLPT N4 kanji list | JLPT N3 kanji list | JLPT N2 kanji list | JLPT N1 kanji list

On each JLPT poster there are the kanji and as many readings of them as possible. The posters are designed to:

  • Present all content only in Japanese
  • Be useful for any Japanese learner irrespective of their native language
  • Allow beginners to focus on just the common readings while allowing advanced learners to explore rarer readings
  • Leave a little room on the printed posters to add meanings or mnemonics by hand

We recommend that you put up these posters in a place where you spend time regularly and where you would have plenty of opportunity for quiet meditation on the kanji.

By the way, the kanji lists used to create these JLPT PDF posters are available under the CC-BY-SA licence and here are the generous sources: Tanos.co.uk, JMdict/Edict and KanjiDic. We are happy to share and to support a community of learners that help each other and exchange knowledge.
